Spiritual wellbeing in psychedelic therapy for people receiving palliative care: Analysis of results

Updated

Abstract

A literature review identified three spiritual wellbeing measures suitable for use in psychedelic research within palliative care.

  • The Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy-Spiritual Well-Being 12-Item Scale (FACIT-Sp-12) is one of the selected measures.
  • The European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Spiritual Well-being Questionnaire (EORTC QLQ-SWB-32) was also included.
  • The National Institutes of Health Healing Experience of All Life Stressors (NIH-HEALS) was identified as particularly suitable for wider use in psychedelic-assisted therapy.
  • These measures exhibit strong reliability and validity for assessing spiritual wellbeing in palliative care populations.
  • The selected instruments are designed to be accessible across various spiritual traditions and practices.
