Stem Cell Treatment May Change Immune Cells Outside the Body in Long COVID Patients

Updated

Abstract

Twenty-five patients with long COVID received SCE therapy, resulting in brain fog and fatigue disappearing in 21 of them.

  • Long COVID affects at least 400 million people worldwide, causing symptoms like persistent fatigue and brain fog.
  • SCE therapy aims to modulate immune responses and has been previously studied for other autoimmune diseases.
  • During the treatment, blood cells from patients are combined with stem cells to potentially improve immune function.
  • Mild adverse effects were noted in five patients, while one patient reported itching during the infusion.
  • Following treatment, most participants reported feeling refreshed and mentally clear, alongside significant reductions in inflammatory markers.
