How US Adults Use Tablets and Smartphones to Help Make Medical Decisions

Men had lower odds of using tablets or smartphones to assist in medical decision making compared to women.

  • Older adults aged 75 and over reported lower odds of using mobile devices for medical decisions compared to younger adults aged 18-34.
  • Individuals with health and wellness apps on their devices were more likely to use them for medical decision making.
  • Those who utilized other electronic devices to monitor their health had higher odds of reporting mobile device use for medical decisions.
  • Sharing health information from devices with healthcare professionals was associated with increased use of mobile devices for medical decision making.
