Telomerase blockers TMPyP4 and BIBR 1532 work together with chemotherapy drugs to better fight tumors

Updated

Abstract

Essence

TMPyP4 and BIBR1532 showed cell-line-specific synergy with several chemotherapies, especially combinations involving DNA-interacting drugs.

Evidence

This in vitro pharmacodynamic study tested TMPyP4 or BIBR1532 with cisplatin, doxorubicin, or paclitaxel across six human cell lines using the Chou-Talalay combination index.

Caveat

Cell-line synergy and hTERT-level differences do not establish tumor efficacy, toxicity, or optimal patient regimens in vivo.
