Therapeutic mRNA Vaccines Targeting HPV16 E7 Protein Show Strong Tumor-Fighting Effects in Mouse Models of HPV-Related Cancer

Updated

Abstract

The HPV 16 E7 mRNA-LNP vaccine reduced tumor marker expression and enhanced immune responses in treated mice.

  • Mutations to the E7 protein were introduced to remove its cancer-causing properties.
  • Activation of E7-specific CD8 T cells and Th1 cells was noted in the spleens of treated mice.
  • Intra-tumoral injection of the vaccine was found to be more effective than intra-muscle injection.
  • The vaccine reduced the presence of tumor markers and weakened the immunosuppressive environment within tumors.
