Nonlinear link between triglyceride to good cholesterol ratio and chronic kidney disease in US adults

Abstract

The prevalence of chronic kidney disease (CKD) was found to be 15.8% among US adults in the study.

  • A higher triglycerides/high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (TG/HDL-C) ratio is associated with a 5% increased prevalence of CKD.
  • Nonlinear analysis revealed that the relationship between TG/HDL-C ratio and CKD shows saturation, with an inflection point at a TG/HDL-C ratio of 6.68.
  • Odds ratios for CKD were 1.08 to the left of the inflection point and 0.97 to the right, indicating a change in the association at different TG/HDL-C levels.
  • No significant effect modification was observed across various demographic and clinical stratifications.
