Essence

An ancestral trimer spike mRNA-LNP vaccine protected mice, sows' offspring, and actively immunized piglets against SADS-CoV challenge.

Evidence

This preclinical vaccine study designed a phylogenetic ancestral spike antigen and tested mRNA-LNP immunization in mice, sows and F1 offspring, piglets, and human, monkey-derived, and chicken cells.

Caveat

Protection was shown in animal challenge and cell assays, with antibody efficacy tracked for 140 days, not in human infection or longer-term outcomes.
