Accuracy and consistency of the Japanese version of the Neuropsychiatric Inventory for nursing homes

Updated

Abstract

The Japanese version of the Nursing Home Version of the Neuropsychiatric Inventory (NPI-NH) showed sufficient validity and reliability.

  • Frequency, severity, and occupational disruptiveness scores from NPI-NH items were significantly correlated with corresponding items in the Behavior Pathology in Alzheimer's Disease (BEHAVE-AD).
  • The agitation score of NPI-NH was significantly correlated with the Cohen-Mansfield Agitation Inventory (CMAI).
  • The depression score of NPI-NH was significantly correlated with the Cornell Scale for Depression in Dementia (CSDD).
  • Test-retest reliability for NPI-NH scores was found to be acceptably high.
