Abstract
Weekly glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RA) may provide benefits for individuals with Type 1 diabetes (T1D) who struggle to meet glycemic targets with insulin alone.
- Most individuals with Type 1 diabetes do not achieve recommended blood sugar levels using insulin therapy alone.
- Adjunctive therapies, such as GLP-1 RAs, are effective for managing type 2 diabetes and obesity.
- There is limited knowledge about the effects and safety of weekly GLP-1 RA treatment in people with Type 1 diabetes.
- Additional clinical trials are needed to address existing gaps in understanding the role of GLP-1 RAs in Type 1 diabetes management.
