Skin aging in rats improved by treatments from fat-based stem cells and their skin cell precursors

Updated

Abstract

Adipose tissue-derived mesenchymal stem cells (Ad-MSCs) significantly improved skin morphology and antioxidant levels in aging rats.

  • Ad-MSCs were shown to differentiate into epidermal progenitor cells (EPCs).
  • Daily intradermal injections of D-galactose were used to induce skin aging in female rats over 8 weeks.
  • Treatment with Ad-MSCs resulted in greater improvements in skin appearance compared to conditioned media treatment.
  • Significant increases in antioxidant levels were observed in the Ad-MSCs-treated group.
  • Histological assessments indicated enhanced skin structure in the Ad-MSCs-treated rats.
