TBX1 in fat tissue affects response to adrenaline and heat production in the body

Updated

Abstract

Adipose-specific overexpression of TBX1 was not sufficient to fully induce beiging and prevent diet-induced obesity.

  • Adipose TBX1 expression is necessary for defending body temperature during cold by regulating UCP1.
  • Loss of adipose TBX1 expression enhances basal lipolysis and reduces the size of subcutaneous white adipose tissue (iWAT) adipocytes.
  • Reduction of TBX1 expression via siRNA significantly impairs adipogenesis in mouse fat cells but enhances it in human adipose-derived stem cells.
  • Adipose TBX1 expression is required for proper insulin signaling in subcutaneous adipose tissue and for maintaining β-adrenergic sensitivity.
