Reported side effects of classic psychedelics and MDMA in the general population using WHO safety data

Updated

Abstract

Essence

Reports to VigiBase linked MDMA and LSD most strongly with psychiatric and substance-use adverse-event signals.

Evidence

This exploratory pharmacovigilance analysis used WHO VigiBase spontaneous reports for MDMA, LSD, psilocybin, DMT, and mescaline, with acetaminophen and oxycodone comparators.

Caveat

Spontaneous reports cannot establish incidence or causality, and interpretation is limited by co-use of other substances and likely underreporting of illicit drug use.
