Anmei Decoction may reduce heart damage in sleep-deprived rats through a cell survival and oxygen response pathway

Updated

Abstract

Thirty-six components of the Anmei Decoction extract were quantified using UPLC-MS/MS.

  • Anmei Decoction significantly improved myocardial function by reducing heart weight to body weight ratios and restoring normal electrocardiogram rhythms.
  • The treatment reversed myocardial damage by decreasing fibrosis, collagen deposition, and cell apoptosis, while also reducing hypertrophy.
  • Regulation of autophagy, apoptosis, and mitophagy was associated with the cardioprotective effects of Anmei Decoction.
  • Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses indicated modulation of key signaling pathways, including PI3K-Akt, mTOR, and HIF-1.
  • Specific changes included upregulation of proteins like PI3K, Akt, and mTOR, alongside downregulation of HIF-1α and other autophagy-related proteins.
