Highly sensitive detection of Staphylococcus aureus using a programmable DNA sensor and CRISPR amplification

Updated

Abstract

The ABC detection platform achieved a limit of detection of 13 CFU per mL for Staphylococcus aureus.

  • The platform integrates target recognition, amplification, and cleavage for sensitive detection.
  • A linear detection range was established from 102 to 1010 CFU per mL.
  • The assay demonstrated excellent specificity for S. aureus, with minimal cross-reactivity to other pathogens.
  • Recovery tests in spiked milk samples showed average recoveries between 98.9% and 100.7%.
  • The platform is noted for its robust anti-interference capability and operational simplicity.
