Updated

Abstract

After eight weeks, the ashwagandha treatment group showed significant improvements in memory and cognitive functioning compared to the placebo group.

  • Improvements in immediate and general memory were noted, with significant differences in Wechsler Memory Scale III subtest scores.
  • Scores for logical memory I and II were significantly higher in the ashwagandha group (p = 0.007, p = 0.006).
  • The treatment group also showed enhanced performance in executive function, sustained attention, and information-processing speed.
  • Significant results were observed on the Eriksen Flanker task (p = 0.002) and Wisconsin Card Sort test (p = 0.014).
  • Overall, ashwagandha may be associated with cognitive benefits in adults with mild cognitive impairment.
