Social jetlag linked to physical activity levels in female Japanese university students
Updated
Abstract
A significant negative correlation was found between social jetlag and physical activity among 68 female university students.
- Social jetlag is associated with health problems, particularly in individuals aged adolescence to early 20s.
- Physical activity of approximately 11,000 steps on both school and free days may minimize social jetlag.
- A negative correlation exists between social jetlag and physical activity on free days (r = -0.435) and school days (r = -0.341).
- Total sleep time on free days shows a positive correlation with social jetlag (r = 0.399) and a negative correlation with physical activity (r = -0.520).
- These findings suggest that significant social jetlag may lead to chronic fatigue and lower physical activity levels.
