Autoantibodies linked to long COVID: a systematic review

Updated

Abstract

Essence

Autoantibodies were often associated with long COVID, but their use as diagnostic or prognostic biomarkers remains unconfirmed.

Evidence

This systematic review screened 1,113 records and included 44 studies with 7,571 participants, including 3,372 with long COVID; 31 studies reported autoantibody associations.

Caveat

Study design, antibody measurement timing and type, and long COVID definitions were substantially heterogeneous, so larger studies are needed to validate biomarker utility.
