Abstract

BBTD treatment significantly reduced seizure severity and duration in an epilepsy rat model.

  • After treatment with BBTD, rats showed a notable increase in the number of healthy neurons in the motor cortex, indicating reduced neuronal damage.
  • BBTD treatment led to an increase in the anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-2 and a decrease in the pro-apoptotic protein Bax, suggesting a reduction in neuronal cell death.
  • The levels of the neurotransmitter GABA were increased, while levels of glutamate were decreased in the treated rats, indicating a restored neurotransmitter balance.
  • Metabolomics analysis revealed that BBTD treatment was associated with changes in metabolites related to vitamin B6 and purine metabolism.
  • Network analysis suggested that metabolites of dopamine and alpha-linolenic acid may play significant roles in the therapeutic effects of BBTD.
