Abstract

An asymmetric functional gradient Janus membrane has been developed for guided bone regeneration, promoting new bone formation.

  • The Janus membrane consists of two distinct layers: a smooth, hydrophobic isolation layer and a rough, hydrophilic osteogenic layer.
  • The GBR-A layer inhibits cell adhesion and prevents soft tissue invasion.
  • The GBR-B layer enhances cell adhesion, proliferation, and mineralization due to its bioactive properties.
  • In vitro and in vivo results indicate the membrane tightly binds to bone and maintains long-term stability.
  • The membrane significantly promotes new bone formation and effectively retains bone filling material in defects.
