Monocyte GIP receptor levels linked to weight loss and liver health improvements after switching to tirzepatide in type 2 diabetes patients

Updated

Abstract

Baseline monocyte glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide receptor (GIPR) mRNA expression may be linked to changes in body weight and the fibrosis-4 (FIB-4) index in patients with type 2 diabetes after switching treatments.

  • Tirzepatide is associated with improvements in body weight and glycemic control in type 2 diabetes patients.
  • Inter-individual differences in response to tirzepatide after switching from GLP-1 receptor agonists are not well understood.
  • Higher levels of baseline GIPR mRNA expression could correlate with greater weight loss.
  • Changes in the FIB-4 index may also be influenced by baseline GIPR mRNA levels.
