Black Ginger Extract Reduces Fat Build-Up by Controlling Fat Metabolism in Mice on a High-Fat Diet

Updated

Abstract

BGE administration at 5, 10, or 20 mg/kg b.w. significantly prevented weight gain in high-fat diet-induced obese mice.

  • BGE reduced increases in organ weight and adipose tissue mass associated with high-fat diets.
  • Administration of BGE resulted in decreased factors related to fat cell formation and fat storage in white adipose tissues.
  • BGE enhanced fat breakdown in white adipose tissue, indicated by increased levels of specific enzymes and proteins.
  • BGE promoted thermogenesis in brown adipose tissues by increasing the expression of certain proteins involved in energy expenditure.
  • The findings suggest that BGE may help in preventing obesity and associated metabolic disorders.
