Lipid nanoparticles targeting the brain's protective barrier improve Ferrostatin-1's protection against stroke damage in a lab model

Updated

Abstract

T-LNPs significantly enhanced BBB penetration and neuroprotective effects of Fer1 against cerebral ischemic damage.

  • T-LNPs increased blood-brain barrier penetration in an in vitro model and enhanced fluorescence distribution in brain tissues.
  • T-LNPs-Fer1 improved the inhibitory effects of Fer1 on ferroptosis in neuronal cells following cerebral ischemia.
  • T-LNPs-Fer1 suppressed oxidative stress markers and reduced ischemia-induced neuronal cell death compared to Fer1 alone.
  • T-LNPs-Fer1 significantly decreased cerebral infarction and improved behavioral functions in mice after ischemic events.
