Edaravone dexborneol may protect the blood-brain barrier after stroke by stopping cell death through activating antioxidant defense pathways

Updated

Abstract

Eda.B significantly improved neurological deficits and reduced infarct area in tMCAO rats.

  • Eda.B diminished cellular apoptosis and enhanced blood-brain barrier integrity.
  • The treatment inhibited ferroptosis, indicated by improved mitochondrial features and alterations in biochemical markers.
  • Eda.B promoted the activation of a specific cellular defense pathway, enhancing the expression of protective proteins.
  • The findings suggest that Eda.B may provide neuroprotection by preventing damage during cerebral ischemia-reperfusion.
