Abstract
Sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors (SGLT2-i) lower office systolic blood pressure by 2.5-4.0 mmHg.
- SGLT2-i also reduce 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure by 3.8 mmHg.
- Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) show modest reductions in systolic blood pressure ranging from 1.8 to 5.1 mmHg.
- Tirzepatide, a GLP-1RA, demonstrates greater efficacy with reductions of approximately 10.6 mmHg in certain populations.
- Both SGLT2-i and GLP-1RAs are associated with cardio-renal benefits and favorable safety profiles.
- SGLT2-i have more consistent blood pressure-lowering effects than GLP-1RAs, potentially due to their diuretic-like action.
