Body shape index linked to faster aging in U.S. adults

Updated

Abstract

Essence

Higher was associated with in U.S. adults mainly above an ABSI threshold of 7.97.

Evidence

This cross-sectional NHANES 1999 to 2010 analysis included 23,045 U.S. adults and used adjusted regression, curve fitting, threshold analysis, and subgroup analyses.

Caveat

The observational design links body shape index to a biomarker-derived aging measure and cannot show that ABSI causes accelerated aging.
