Abstract

Essence

Breast tissue epigenetic ageing measures were associated with obesity-related metabolic markers in cancer-free women.

Evidence

This observational tissue analysis studied normal breast samples from 91 cancer-free women, relating clocks and to leptin, adiponectin, IGF-1, and IGFBP-3 with adjustment for age, race, BMI, and smoking.

Caveat

The moderate sample size and observational design limit causal interpretation and leave menopausal-status differences exploratory.
