Breviscapine's effects on brain injury after blood flow return and gut bacteria imbalance in rats through the TLR4/MyD88/NF-κB signaling pathway

Updated

Abstract

Breviscapine significantly reduced neurological injury scores and cerebral infarct volume in rats with ischemia-reperfusion injury.

  • A rat model of cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury was used to assess the effects of breviscapine.
  • Neurological function and infarct volume improved in groups receiving breviscapine compared to the model group.
  • Breviscapine decreased serum levels of NSE, an indicator of neurological injury.
  • The treatment reduced the expression of TLR4/MyD88/NF-κB inflammatory pathway components in brain tissue.
  • Breviscapine also improved dysbiosis of intestinal flora in rats with cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury.
