Bushen Huoxue recipe may reduce cell death in ovarian support cells by affecting the PI3K/Akt pathway in mice with early ovarian failure

Updated

Abstract

BHR administration significantly improved ovarian function in CTX-induced POI mice.

  • BHR improved irregular estrous cycles, hormonal imbalances, and disorders in follicular development.
  • Increased follicular atresia and decreased ovarian reserve were observed in untreated POI mice.
  • Transcriptomic analyses suggested that BHR may enhance ovarian function by inhibiting ferroptosis.
  • BHR administration led to decreased expression of heme oxygenase 1 and increased expression of glutathione peroxidase 4 and solute carrier family 7a member 11.
  • Oxidative stress in granulosa cells was effectively reduced by BHR treatment.
  • BHR inhibited apoptosis in granulosa cells, possibly through activation of the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway.
