Qingxin Jianpi Decoction May Improve Reduced Ovarian Reserve Caused by Cyclophosphamide by Activating Cell Survival Pathways and Preventing Cell Death

Abstract

Qingxin Jianpi Decoction (QXJP) significantly restores hormonal balance and ovarian function in a rat model of cyclophosphamide-induced diminished ovarian reserve.

  • QXJP treatment leads to restored estrous cyclicity and increased follicle counts in DOR rats.
  • Hormone levels of FSH, LH, E2, and AMH are significantly rebalanced after QXJP administration (all p < 0.01).
  • The decoction reduces granulosa cell apoptosis, indicated by decreased Bax and cleaved Caspase-3 levels and increased Bcl-2.
  • Ferroptosis-related changes are attenuated by QXJP, with upregulation of SLC7A11 and downregulation of MDA, 4-HNE, and ACSL4.
  • QXJP activates the PI3K/AKT/Nrf2 signaling pathway, as shown by increased ratios of p-PI3K/PI3K and p-AKT/AKT, along with upregulation of Nrf2, HO-1, and GPX4 (p < 0.05).
