Lower Risk of Heart and Blood Vessel Problems in Patients with Artery Disease Who Started Semaglutide 2.4 mg in Real-World Settings
Updated
Abstract
Among 38,308 patients treated with semaglutide 2.4 mg, the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) was significantly reduced.
- Semaglutide 2.4 mg was associated with a 45% reduced risk of revised 3-point MACE (rMACE-3) events such as heart attack and stroke.
- The treatment also showed a 37% reduction in the risk of revised 5-point MACE (rMACE-5), which includes heart failure hospitalization and coronary revascularization.
- A significant reduction in the risk of heart failure composite outcomes was observed with semaglutide 2.4 mg.
- The use of semaglutide 2.4 mg was linked to a lower occurrence of type 2 diabetes and major adverse kidney events.
- These findings suggest that semaglutide 2.4 mg may benefit adults with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease and obesity.
