Among 24,708 Emergency Medical Services professionals, 48.8% of EMTs achieved optimal cardiovascular health compared to 40.6% of paramedics.

  • Personal income also shows a positive correlation with optimal cardiovascular health among EMS professionals.
  • Working in urban areas is linked to better cardiovascular health outcomes compared to rural settings.
  • Paramedic certification, older age, male sex, and working for non-fire-based agencies are associated with lower odds of optimal cardiovascular health.
  • Providing medical transport services may be linked to reduced cardiovascular health outcomes.
