How the Cell Cycle May Affect mRNA Delivery by Lipid Nanoparticles

Updated

Abstract

Essence

Cell cycle phase appears to shape how strongly mRNA lipid nanoparticles are taken up and translated.

Evidence

This mechanistic in vitro study compared endocytosis, endosomal escape, uptake, and protein expression across G0/G1, S, and G2/M phases in multiple cell types, LNP chemistries, and mRNA payloads.

Caveat

The findings are platform-level cell data, so they do not yet show phase-selective therapeutic benefit in vivo or in patients.
