Chemotherapy and radiation treatment for advanced pancreatic cancer

Updated

Abstract

11,333 participants were included across 75 studies to assess treatment options for advanced pancreatic cancer.

  • Chemotherapy likely results in little to no difference in overall survival compared to best supportive care.
  • 5-fluorouracil likely reduces overall survival and is associated with severe adverse events.
  • FOLFIRINOX improves overall survival and delays deterioration in quality of life, but increases severe adverse events.
  • Gemcitabine plus fluoropyrimidine improves overall survival and likely enhances quality of life while increasing severe adverse events.
  • Gemcitabine plus taxane shows a significant improvement in overall survival and likely improves quality of life.
