Childhood trauma and patterns of change after psychedelic experiences

Updated

Abstract

Essence

Participant-identified childhood or youth trauma during psychedelic experiences was linked to more emotional difficulties and mixed post-experience trajectories.

Evidence

Mixed-methods study of 608 people with lasting post-psychedelic difficulties plus semi-structured interviews with 18 purposively selected participants.

Caveat

The sample was limited to people already reporting post-psychedelic difficulties, and resurfaced memories could not be verified.
