Chuanxiong-Renshen medicine pair may reduce brain inflammation in Alzheimer's by affecting the PKC-alpha/NF-kappaB signaling pathway

Updated

Abstract

CRM significantly improved cognitive function in 3 × Tg-AD mice after two months of treatment.

  • Cognitive deficits were markedly ameliorated in treated mice compared to controls.
  • CRM reduced levels of neuroinflammatory markers including Iba-1, CD86, P-Tau, and APP.
  • The treatment inhibited the PKC-α/NF-κB signaling pathway, leading to decreased expression of pro-inflammatory factors such as iNOS and COX-2.
  • CRM altered gut microbiota composition, significantly reducing the abundance of Proteobacteria.
  • Changes in gut microbiota correlated with decreased levels of Iba-1 and APP in the hippocampus.
