Daily changes in blood fat levels after eating

Updated

Abstract

Mean postprandial concentrations of triacylglycerol, VLDL-triacylglycerol, and VLDL-C were higher at night than during the day.

  • Postprandial cholesterol, LDL-C, HDL-C, apo A-I, and apo B concentrations were lower after the night meal compared to the day meal.
  • The area between fasting and postprandial curves indicated a greater VLDL-C response at night.
  • The LDL-C and HDL-C responses were lower at night than during the day.
  • Apolipoprotein responses were dissociated from lipoprotein responses at night, suggesting different regulatory mechanisms.
  • Circadian factors specifically influence serum cholesterol transport and postprandial lipid and apolipoprotein concentrations.
