Circular RNA therapy boosts lasting FGF2 levels to speed up healing of diabetic wounds

Updated

Abstract

LNP-circFGF2 demonstrates superior wound healing effects in a diabetic mouse model compared to control treatments.

  • LNP-circFGF2 leads to prolonged FGF2 expression following a single administration.
  • In vitro experiments show significant enhancement in fibroblast proliferation, migration, and endothelial cell tube formation with LNP-circFGF2 compared to conventional therapies.
  • In a diabetic mouse model, LNP-circFGF2 accelerates wound closure and improves collagen deposition.
  • Histological analyses reveal better re-epithelialization, angiogenesis, and extracellular matrix remodeling with LNP-circFGF2 treatment.
  • LNP-circFGF2 treatment does not significantly activate immune responses at the wound site.
