Abstract
A total of 344 adults with type 2 diabetes will participate in a 16-week randomized controlled trial testing the effects of early time-restricted eating and daytime bright light therapy.
- Disruption of circadian rhythms is associated with worsened glycemic control and cardiovascular health.
- Optimizing circadian rhythms through earlier eating and bright light exposure may improve cardiometabolic health.
- Participants will be assigned to one of four groups: control, early time-restricted eating, daytime bright light therapy, or both therapies combined.
- The primary outcome of the trial is glycemic control, assessed through HbA1c and 24-hour glucose measurements.
- Secondary outcomes include diurnal rhythms of melatonin and cortisol, as well as variations in glucose uptake throughout the day.
