Lack of community involvement in psychedelic-assisted therapy research: a systematic review

Updated

Abstract

Essence

Community-engaged research appears rare in recent U.S. psychedelic-assisted therapy trials.

Evidence

This systematic review assessed 27 U.S. psilocybin, MDMA, and LSD clinical trials from the past 10 years and found that 3 of 27 studies incorporated community-engaged research, mainly low-engagement consultation.

Caveat

The review measures reported engagement practices in a small U.S. trial set and does not directly test whether CEnR would improve participant diversity in PAT trials.
