Compact Cas12f allows genome editing in bird cells

Essence

Compact Cas12f enabled genome editing in avian cells with locus-dependent editing and no detected off-target mutations above the assay threshold.

Evidence

This cell-based genome-editing study tested Cas12f in chicken LMH cells and primordial germ cells, with NGS showing on-target editing up to 40% at specific LMH loci and Sanger/ICE assessing predicted off-target sites.

Caveat

The evidence is limited to avian cell systems and predicted off-target assays, with editing efficiency varying by locus.
