How common compassion fatigue is and what influences it among Chinese psychiatric nurses

The mean scores for , , and secondary traumatic stress among 352 psychiatric nurses were 32.59, 26.92, and 25.97, respectively.
- Compassion satisfaction, burnout, and secondary traumatic stress levels among Chinese psychiatric nurses were found to be moderate.
- Job satisfaction, sleeping quality, and marital status were linked to burnout, accounting for 40.4% of the variance.
- Higher job satisfaction, better sleep quality, and regular exercise may enhance compassion satisfaction.
- Having children and being in the age range of 36 to 50 years could positively influence compassion satisfaction.
- Job satisfaction, average sleeping quality, and years of nursing experience were significantly associated with secondary traumatic stress, explaining 10.9% of the variance.
