Antibody responses after the second COVID-19 mRNA vaccine dose in cancer patients receiving treatment

Updated

Abstract

Essence

Cancer patients receiving treatment showed a delayed antibody response after the second BNT162b2 COVID-19 vaccine dose.

Evidence

This cohort study enrolled 53 people with cancer in early 2021 and compared humoral responses by ongoing or recent systemic cancer treatment status before the second dose, 1 month after, and 6 months after vaccination.

Caveat

The cohort was small and demographically narrow, and the abstract reports antibody levels rather than antibody functionality or clinical protection.
