A total of 23 genes were identified as shared between age-associated neuronal changes and NMN-responsive genes in peripheral tissues.

  • Age-related mitochondrial function decline is linked to changes in gene regulation in neurons.
  • Nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) may mitigate some age-related physiological changes.
  • The analysis revealed that 14 of the 23 shared genes exhibited opposing effects under age-associated chromatin changes.
  • CPT2, a gene involved in mitochondrial fatty-acid oxidation, was identified as a key candidate for further investigation.
