Improved CRISPR-based bacterial sepsis test with better stability, activity, and wider target range

Updated

Abstract

Essence

A MOF-encapsulated PAM-relaxed CRISPR-Cas12a platform showed broad and stable detection of sepsis-causing bacteria.

Evidence

Diagnostic platform and formulation study tested CRISPR-FLEXMO in bacterial lysates, stressed storage conditions, and serum samples from 15 sepsis patients and 3 healthy individuals.

Caveat

The reported 100% serum sensitivity and specificity come from only 18 human samples, so clinical diagnostic performance remains uncertain.
