CsA significantly alleviated DSS-induced acute colitis in mice, with improvements in intestinal barrier function.

  • Cellular senescence is associated with increased inflammatory responses in ulcerative colitis.
  • Persistent inflammation may drive further cellular senescence, contributing to disease progression.
  • Dysbiosis of gut microbiota and disrupted bile acid metabolism may compromise intestinal barrier integrity.
  • CsA is suggested to inhibit the JAK2-STAT3/NF-κB signaling pathway, reducing pro-inflammatory cytokine release.
  • CsA may also modulate the composition of intestinal microbiota and their metabolite profiles.
