Daytime Sleepiness, Driving Skills, Reaction Speed, and Self-Control During Sleep Restriction Treatment for Chronic Insomnia
Updated
Abstract
Sixteen adults underwent sleep restriction therapy (SRT) over two weeks without significant changes in daytime sleepiness or objective performance.
- Participants adhered to the time restriction for sleep, maintaining a similar total sleep time from pre- to post-treatment.
- No significant changes were observed in daytime sleepiness as measured by the Epworth Sleepiness Scale.
- Objective performance showed no significant differences in reaction time or driving ability during the Go/NoGo task and driving simulator tests.
- These preliminary findings indicate that SRT may not pose a risk of significant impairments in sleepiness or reaction times for insomnia patients.
