Highly sensitive detection of tumor-released exosomes using boosted light-based aptamer sensing

A limit of detection of 44 particles/μL for tumor-derived exosomes was achieved using a novel triple cascade-amplified aptasensor.

  • Tumor-derived exosomes were identified using specific aptamers targeting CD63 and MUC1.

  • Clinical trials indicated an area under the curve of 0.96 for the aptasensor, surpassing commercial chemiluminescence immunoassays.
  • The approach allows for rapid detection of low-abundance tumor exosome subpopulations without the need for nucleic acid amplification.
