Abstract

A total of 420 elderly patients will be recruited to assess the effects of dexmedetomidine infusion versus placebo on during different depths of anaesthesia.

  • Postoperative delirium (POD) is a significant concern in elderly patients undergoing major surgery.
  • The study compares the effects of dexmedetomidine and placebo during light and deep anaesthesia on POD.
  • Primary outcomes include the occurrence of POD within the first 7 days post-surgery.
