Abstract
Cbi-Ex4 improved glucose tolerance without inducing anorexia, weight loss, or malaise in rodent models.
- Cancer anorexia-cachexia syndrome is associated with insulin resistance and impaired glucose tolerance.
- Limited treatment options exist that improve metabolic regulation without worsening anorexia in cancer patients.
- A new compound, Cbi-Ex4, was developed to target GLP-1 receptors without crossing the blood-brain barrier.
- Cbi-Ex4 demonstrated effectiveness in enhancing glucose control while avoiding the adverse effects seen with native Ex4.
- These results suggest that targeting peripheral GLP-1 receptors could be a viable strategy for managing metabolic dysfunction in cancer.
