Reasons people stop using semaglutide or tirzepatide for weight loss in real-life treatment
Updated
Abstract
Essence
In routine obesity care, semaglutide or tirzepatide was most often stopped because of cost or insurance barriers.
Evidence
This cross-sectional electronic health record study reviewed a random sample of 288 adults without type 2 diabetes who discontinued semaglutide or tirzepatide within 1 year, with 47.6% stopping for cost or insurance reasons.
Caveat
The results come from a single health system and depend on documented discontinuation reasons in the medical record, which were unspecified for 11.1% of patients.
